Our Dance Program

Dance is not only a great way to increase physical fitness, flexibility and coordination, but it’s also a fantastic vehicle for discipline, social interaction and the ability to learn the language of movement.

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre

Available for: Senior

This course runs from September to May and combines dance, singing and acting as the student develops the techniques necessary in performing in musical theatre.

Solo, duet, trio and group pieces will be explored, from the beginnings of musical theatre to contemporary work that can be found on Broadway today. Throughout the year students will build their skills in character study, choral singing, harmony, staging, and choreography. 

 

Awesome Rate $535 for the year Taking all 3 classes separately would cost $1,030!

To register simply select that you are signing up for Musical Theatre (under the acting category) and you will automatically be enrolled in Jazz and Voice!

Creative Movement

Creative Movement

Available for: Preschool

A great introductory course for all forms of dance. Creative movement allows students to experiment with movement, rhythm, spatial awareness, and coordination, while being creative and having fun. 

Creative Movement classes run from September - May.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop

Available for: Junior, Intermediate, Senior & Adult

Always a fun, high energy workout, Hip Hop is a great style of dance, full of culture and history and is currently one of the most popular styles of dance. Students will develop strong coordination, balance, rhythm and strength. 

All Hip Hop classes run from September - May.

Ballet

Ballet

Available for: Primary, Junior, Intermediate & Senior

Students are taught the basics and fundamentals of ballet.  The students develop poise, self-confidence and discipline through this graceful art form, while also improving their classical technique and musicality. 

All Ballet classes run from September - May.

Jazz

Jazz

Primary, Junior, Intermediate, Senior, Adult

For younger students, jazz is all about learning how to move to the music - increasing rhythm, flexibility, balance and coordination while having fun!  As the student gets older, placement, strength, flexibility and technique are achieved through a centre floor warm-up followed by combinations and dance choreography which further stretch and challenge both the mind and body. 

All Jazz classes run from September - May.

Break Dance

Intermediate, Senior

Teaching you the foundations of break dancing and b-boying.  From breakin’ to learning how to groove anywhere.  Students will learn fresh moves to pull out anywhere, while having fun!

Tap

Tap

Junior, Intermediate, Senior, Adult

Offered Through 6-Week Intensives
[Term 1 September 27-November 5, Term 2 January 17-February 25, Term 3 March 21-April 29]

Tap dancing is a fun and active form of dance.  It is distinguished by percussive footwork, that marks out precise rhythmic patterns on the floor.  Students will learn the fundamental sounds of tap dancing, rhythm and balance while learning fun and challenging routines.

Your invoice term fees are adjusted to reflect the removal of payment for holidays when classes do not run.

Incidental Fees

Term fees do not include the performance fee of $30 per student (per class) which will be included on your invoice. This fee includes costumes, props and set design for all performances.

Children’s Fitness Tax Credit

As of 2007, the Government of Canada offers a non-refundable tax credit of up to $500 for children under 16 enrolled in an eligible program of physical activity. byDesign will provide receipts at the end of the year for eligible classes. Dance Dress Code

A dress code is in effect for all dancers at byDesign.
